Rain derails play in Turkey

Casual water on the putting green in front of the main scoreboard. Play has been delayed for the day

The Ladies European Tour's Turkish Airlines Ladies Open was reduced to 54 holes due to adverse weather conditions in Belek, Antalya.

The second round has been delayed until Saturday and the same tee times will apply as for Friday after at least 25mm of rain fell overnight Thursday and on Friday morning, leaving the and National Golf Club course waterlogged and unplayable.

“This decision have been taken with the forecast for heavy rain until mid-afternoon,” said tournament director, Steve Kavanagh.

“The outlook for tomorrow is for the occasional shower which will give the course ample time to recover and the green keepers to repair any damage to bunkers. Sunshine is forecast for Sunday.”

There will be a cut to the leading 60 players and ties after 36 holes. The final 18 holes will be played on Sunday.
