VCZ raises Zambia Ladies Open stakes

2014ZLO_FordEcoSportTitanium_CropThe arrival of a buttercup yellow Ford Eco Sport Titanium at Ndola Golf Club on Friday, created quite a buzz among the professionals challenging in the first Zambia Ladies Open Championship this weekend.

The first pro to ace the par-three 17th in the tournament will drive away with the sporty Ford SUV, valued at 250,000 Kwacha (approximately R500,000) and sponsored Vehicle Centre Zambia (VCZ).

Ladies European Tour regular Stacy Bregman and Sunshine Ladies Tour winner Kim Williams got their first look at the prize at the end of the first round.

Bregman could hardly believe how close she got to taking the Eco Sport home.

“I hit my tee shot to a couple of inches from the hole; if it just rolled over one more time, this cutie would have been mine,” she gushed. “I can’t believe how close I came. Hopefully they will put the pin in the same area on the weekend and I can have another shot at it.”

Williams also wants to stake her claim on the SUV.

“This is just the cutest car and we don’t have them back home,” she said. “I’d love to drive this baby home, so Stacy better watch out….I say it is game on.”

Sales and marketing national manager, George Roberts, said the company was thrilled to sponsor the Hole-In-One price.

“The launch of the Zambia Ladies Open is a benchmark for women’s sport in our country, and more than 65 companies and individuals threw their support behind the first professional women’s golf tournament in the country,” Roberts said.

“VCZ definitely also wanted to come on board for this landmark occasion, and a Hole-in-One prize always raises the element of excitement. We selected a vehicle that has proven very popular among the ladies, and we are delighted with the response to the prize from the players.”
